Dolby Wired For Sound With Disney

Dolby Laboratories used the Showest Exhibition that’s currently ongoing in Las Vegas to announce that they are working with Disney/Pixar to develop a new audio format. Dolby Surround 7.1 will be launched in select US cinemas at the same time as the opening of 3-D animation Toy Story 3 on June 18.
Speaking at Showest, Dolby’s senior director of marketing and cinema market segment Page Huan said that the new system would enable a better mix of audio and 3-D elements, along with “a more exciting sensory experience to audiences for 2D.”
