ENVY post adds Sohonet Media Connection to 5th London site

Sohonet, the global leader in connectivity and data management for the media and entertainment industry, has continued its strong partnership with ENVY Post Production with the installation of a 1Gbit/s SMN connection at its latest site in London’s Windmill Street. ENVY now boasts 110 offline and 40 online suites across its five London sites, which include offices in Margaret Street, Foley Street and Rathbone Place.

Sohonet has worked with ENVY for over five years to support its expanding operation and ensure the seamless, secure and high performance delivery of its digital assets across all its sites. In early 2012, consistent customer demand and a particular client deadline meant that ENVY had to acquire a new space quickly and have it fully operational by the beginning of October.

Jamie Bean, Systems Technologist, ENVY, said: “We took a huge risk trying to get a new facility up and running with full functionality during the London Olympics and subsequent London Roadworks ban. Sohonet went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure a fibre line was installed in our new building as soon as the Roadworks Embargo was lifted, and we were able to open our new state-of-the-art facility earlier than expected.”

ENVY, which has won the ‘Best Post Production House’ Broadcast Award for the fourth time in seven years, has a long history of working on award-winning programmes across Factual, Drama, Comedy, Documentaries and Light Entertainment, as well in design, branding and commercials. The company started in 2006 with just 42 staff and now has over 230 employees over its five sites.

“We decided to go with Sohonet over five years ago, when our existing network provider failed to deliver its support promises and we were the only media member on its private network community. Sohonet not only had a strong reputation for outstanding media expertise and technology support, but it also has the world’s largest private media network community. This means we can connect to and collaborate with some of the leading players in the international film, TV and media industries, whilst being assured that the delivery and receipt of our high-value content is in the safest of hands,” adds Bean.

Damien Carroll, Chief Operating Officer, Sohonet, commented: “ENVY has grown from strength-to-strength, in the harshest economic climate, to become one of the top post production houses in the UK, and we are delighted to be part of its continued success.  Creative companies are recognising just how vital a role their network infrastructure plays in the creation and delivery of high-value media assets. Those, such as ENVY, that invest in robust network technologies and consistently configure these for optimal performance will ultimately provide the best customer service and will continue to thrive.”

As part of its commitment to youth training and its ENVY Academy programme, ENVY continues to give a series of lectures at key universities, to recruit and cultivate the next generation of creatives.
