Jeremy Renner Accepts Mission: Impossible

Source: Deadline New York

As revealed in an exclusive report on website Deadline: New York, it appears that Oscar-nominated The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner has been picked by Paramount to team up with Tom Cruise for upcoming action sequel Mission: Impossible 4.

Although Cruise is expected to stay with the franchise at least until film number 5, it appears studio bosses were keen to pick a co-star with the ability to take over should the main man choose to depart at any point. And with Cruise’s latest film Knight and Day doing mediocre business at the US box office, Paramount may well be concerned that his massive star power is on the wane.

Brad Bird is to direct Mission: Impossible 4, which is being mounted as a reboot, while JJ Abrams is on board to co-produce with Cruise. The script has been written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, and shooting begins across America, Canada, Prague and Dubai later this year.
