John Woo’s Tigers To Get IMAX Treatment
Flying Tigers, the next film from filmmaker John Woo and his producing partner Terence Chang, is to be digitally remastered for IMAX. The film is about the American Volunteer Group, which became the 14th Air Force during World War II; the joint air forces were made up of American and Chinese pilots flying together against the Empire of Japan.
“It has always been a dream of mine to explore shooting with IMAX cameras, and to work in the IMAX format,” said Woo. “The strong visual element of this film is incredibly well-suited to the tastes of cinemagoers today. Using IMAX for Flying Tigers would create a new experience for the audience, and I think it would be another breakthrough for Chinese movies.”
Shooting begins in the Spring.
