Oscar®-winning producer David Parfitt to head up FILM LONDON board

PRESS RELEASE: NEW CHAIRMAN FOR FILM LONDON

Film London today announced that Oscar® and BAFTA-winning producer David Parfitt has been appointed Chair of its Board of directors, taking over from Sandy Lieberson, who’s tenure has ended after leading the agency since it launched in 2004. Parfitt takes the helm at Film London the day after the British Government awarded the organisation the responsibility of managing the national inward investment function for film, through a public-private partnership with key film industry bodies.

Former Chairman of BAFTA and an independent producer for over 20 years, Parfitt’s credits include Shakespeare in Love (winner of seven Academy Awards) and, through his production company Trademark Films, My Week with Marilyn starring Michelle Williams, which is currently in production in the capital. Parfitt’s experience and knowledge of the UK film industry is extensive and will help guide Film London as it goes through a significant change to its remit and responsibility. The board is also joined by BBC’s Isabel Begg, replacing the outgoing Lisbeth Savill. As Head of Rights, Business Affairs and Partnerships for BBC North and previously Senior Legal and Business Affairs manager in fiction at BBC Films, Begg’s expertise will be especially valuable.
