The 9th Angel Film Awards, part of the Monaco International Film Festival, announced their winners recently at a star studded reception held at the Art Novo Theatre in Monaco with the UK entry My Angel scooping up no fewer than 6 awards, including Best Director (Steve Cookson), Best Female Actor (Brenda Blethyn), Best Male Actor (Timothy Spall) and Best Screenplay.

Started nine years ago by Rosana Golden and Dean Bentley to showcase non-violent films, this year’s awards focussed on MUSIC & FILM with 19 films selected out of 740 entries.

British Emmy Award Winner and Composer John Altman (Titanic, Little Voice, Goldeneye) led the festival jury which included producer Kazuiko Tanaka, Victoria Aitkin, actress Melissa Papel, director Sasha Schriber and BBC World News Journalist Babita Sharma. UK Producer Daniella Gonella announced the winners for the screenwriters section.

2011 Angel Film Awards Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Emmy Award winning Composer John Altman for his inspiring contribution for music in film.
