The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles) is pleased to announce it will honor Academy®, Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning actor, screenwriter, director, producer and global humanitarian George Clooney with the prestigious Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, at the 2013 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards presented by BBC AMERICA on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolade, a celebration of achievements honoring individuals and companies that have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts. The Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award is presented to a unique individual, upon whose work is stamped the indelible mark of authorship and commitment, and who has lifted the craft to new heights.

“George Clooney is without question one of our industry’s true icons. His work has captivated audiences from all corners of the globe, and BAFTA Los Angeles is proud to be celebrating his immeasurable contributions to our craft,” said BAFTA Los Angeles Chairman Gary Dartnall. “We are also especially pleased to be continuing our partnership with BBC America, whose support and primetime broadcast of the ceremony will ensure that viewers around the country will be able to celebrate the occasion with us.”

“From Argo, Good Night and Good Luck, The Descendants, Up In the Air, Syriana, The Ides of March, Michael Clayton, the Ocean’s franchise, and O Brother Where Art Thou?, among many others, George has brought us award-winning, critically acclaimed films that have inspired, challenged and entertained the world. We are honoured to recognise his outstanding contribution to our industry,” said Britannia Award Co-Chairs Deborah Kolar and Rebecca Segal.

The Britannia Awards are presented annually at a gala dinner, where peers and colleagues celebrate the work and accomplishments of the year’s distinguished honorees. Proceeds from the gala ceremony support BAFTA Los Angeles’ on-going education, scholarship, community outreach and archival projects.

For the second year in a row, the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards will be broadcast on BBC AMERICA, airing in primetime November 10, 2013 at 8pm ET as a two-hour special including footage of the Britannia Awards Red Carpet.

“BBC AMERICA is pleased to continue a successful partnership with BAFTA Los Angeles, by once again bringing this prestigious award ceremony to our viewers,” said Perry Simon, General Manager, BBC AMERICA. “With some of the industry’s biggest talent being honored from the US and the UK, the awards embody the spirit of our brand in every way.
