eOne entertainment ventures into Far East with South Korean deal

eOne President Patrice Theroux said the deal with the Korean distributor was part of eOne’s strategy to “exploit our content on a multi-platform basis.”

International entertainment company eOne is venturing into Far East Asia for the first time after signing a multi-year deal with South Korea’s United Entertainment Korea.

United Entertainment Korea has made a deal to handle all of the London-based comany’s international home entertainment titles in South Korea.

eOne Television International will continue to handle TV content in Korea and eOne Films International will continue to handle film sales. eOne Films will still offer its slate of projects to all buyers and distributors.

The first titles to be released in theaters under the new partnership are Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

UEK has exclusive distribution rights in South Korea to home entertainment product from Sony Pictures, NBCUniversal and 20th Century Fox, as well as handling theatrical releases for independent films from around the world.

eOne filmed entertainment president Patrice Theroux said: “We’re very excited to collaborate with Peter and the UEK team.

“As we continue to expand our global distribution network, it’s essential that we build strong partnerships with local industry leaders like UEK. We continue to seek new strategic opportunities around the world to exploit our content on a multi-platform basis. We’re confident that UEK will be a very strong partner for us in this new territory,”
