Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard Team For Blues Biopic

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is to team with her husband Peter Sarsgaard for an as yet unnamed biopic about legendary bluegrass musician Bill Monroe. It was announced back in June that Sarsgaard was attached to play the role of Monroe, and now Gyllenhaal has confirmed her involvement.
“Bill Monroe, who invented bluegrass music, had a kind of Sid and Nancy-style affair with this woman Bessie Lee Mauldin throughout his life,” said Gyllenhaal, “and T Bone Burnett’s going to do the music and Callie Khouri, who wrote Thelma & Louise, wrote the script, so we’re going to do that together.”
