Hunger Games powers massive revenue bump for Lionsgate Entertainment – movieScope

The company is now worth $707 million after the strong performances in DVD and delivery sales of the Gary Ross directed futuristic action film and the box office performance of its horror film The Possession.

As a point of comparison, Lionsgate recorded a $25.3 million loss in the same quarter last year on revenues of $358.1 million.

Lionsgate will expect their upward trend to continue after merging with Summit Entertainment in January, providing it with the distribution rights to the Twilight franchise.

The studio will release the latest  – and probably last – installment of the series adaption of Stephenie Meyer’s novels with The Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hitting cinemas on November 16.
