K5 wins international sales for LFF winner My Brother the Devil – movieScope

The news comes after El Hosaini won the Best British Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival which came to a close this weekend.

A story of two British Egyptian brothers growing up in London, Jury President David Heyman said of the film: “Sally El Hosaini’s writing and direction displayed a remarkable maturity. The film transcended its genre with lyricism and tenderness and possessed a wonderful emotional truth.”

Verve Pictures releases in the UK starting in November, while Pacha Pictures previously held the sales rights.

Producer Julia Godzinskaya said: “We look forward to working with K5 who are as passionate about the film as we are.”

Carl Clifton, head of sales at K5, added: ““It’s a rare gem of a film that will surprise and seduce. Sally El Hosaini is clearly one of the UK’s most exciting talents and we’re thrilled to be establishing a relationship with her and the film’s really talented producers, and to be taking her work out to the global market where we know it will resonate.”
