Lee to Set Sail on Life of Pi?

As movieScope went to press, a decision was imminent as to whether Ang Lee’s long-planned adaptation of Yann Martel’s bestselling novel The Life of Pi is to go ahead at 20th Century Fox.
The film has been in development for almost a decade, with several different filmmakers attached. Brokeback Mountain helmer Lee is the favourite to turn Martel’s story of a boy adrift in a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific with only a Bengal tiger for company into a movie, and he plans to make it as a 3D adventure.
It will include a lot of CGI because, as Fox 2000’s Elizabeth Gabler pointed out, ‘You can’t put a live tiger in a boat with a child.’
