New Cast Members For Spooks Movie
Casting news for Spooks: The Greater Good, the big screen adaptation of the hit TV espionage thriller from Shine Pictures (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) and Kudos (Broadchurch), was announced today at AFM.
Kit Harington (Game of Thrones, Pompeii) and Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) have signed on to join original Spooks star Peter Firth for the film, which is due to shoot in early 2014. Harington will take the role of ex-MI5 operative Will Crombie, who is called in by Dame Geraldine Maltby, Deputy DG of MI5 (Ehle) to track down a terrorist who has escaped from custody during a routine handover. The film is being directed by Bharat Nalluri, the originating director on the original TV seriess.
Shine Pictures’ Stephen Garrett says, “With Spooks: The Greater Good we’ve set out to make a gripping, cinematic, contemporary spy thriller – one that builds on the history of the show and its legacy of questioning the world around us, but which also delivers as a standalone film for a new, global audience.”
