The Raid star Joe Taslim signs on to play the villain in Fast and Furious 6 – |
The Raid opened in cinemas on May 18, with Evans writing exclusively about the film in movieScope issue 28. Already, the director, and stars of the film have been swept up by Hollywood and are signing on to some of the biggest franchises in the industry.
Taslim will star opposite Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, playing a cold blooded killer who uses martial arts and parkour skills to fight the Fast crew, in a role reminiscent of Jet Li making the step up to Lethal Weapon 4; a showcase part which made him a star in America.
Taslim, a martial arts champion who lives in Jakarta, was discovered by director Gareth Evans during his research for The Raid. Following the success of the film, Taslim was signed by ICM Partners.
Evans was already working on The Raid sequel Berandal as the film was released in the UK, but has since been signed by Universal to direct his English language debut, heist thriller Breaking The Bank.
Meanwhile, Taslim’s The Raid co-star Iko Uwais has just secured a part in Keanu Reeves’ Man Of Tai Chi.
