Wimbledon Film and Television Studios have announced that their two-story, 2,000 square foot prison set, has now been permanently resurrected and installed in a sound treated stage.

The set will prove invaluable to productions wishing to film prison-related footage given the logistical difficulties of filming in working UK prisons. Piers Read, Managing Director of Wimbledon Studios has said, “We are delighted to have the prison set standing permanently once again at Wimbledon Studios. It’s practically impossible to film in real prisons so the demand for this set, like all our others, has always been high, even when it was in storage.”

Aside from providing all the comfort of a studio based shoot – including the freedom to dress and alter the space as required – the set also features a communal space bordered by cells, security gates at both ends, a warden’s office, and a flight of stairs up to the mezzanine level.
