Dubai Film Festival announces 15 Arab projects in line for co-production – |

Since the Dubai Film Connection was launched five years ago, 30 projects have been completed and 13 are in various stages of production.

Past participants include Cherien Dabis’Amreeka, Annemarie Jacir’s When I Saw You and Haifaa al-Mansour’s Wadjda, which Sony Pictures Classics picked up for North American distribution.

The festival have also recently announced further additions to the Cinema Of The World section in the festival line-up, including Cloud Atlas, Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master, Roger Michell’s Hyde Park On Hudson, Dustin Hoffman’s Quartet and Wayne Blair’s The Sapphires.

The projects will vie for more than $100,000 in award money and partnership opportunities, with the aim of helping the scripts reach the screen. This year’s line-up includes:

Even Donkeys Have Remorse, dir: Shirin Abu Shaqra (Lebanon)

From A to B, dir: Ali F. Mostafa (UAE)

Ghost Hunting, dir: Raed Andoni (Palestine)

Kilo 56, dir: Mohamed Hammad (Egypt)

Me, Myself and Murdoch, dir: Yahya Alabdallah (Jordan)

Scars and Traces, dir: Remi Itani (Lebanon)

The Foreign Son, dir: Abdallah Badis (Algeria)

The Valley, dir: Ghassan Salhab (Lebanon)
