Wall Street Sequel Pushed Back

Source: Variety

If the recent trailers for Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps had whetted your appetite for the film’s release in April, prepare to be disappointed. Twentieth Century Fox is pushing the film’s release back five months, until September; although the distributor has stated that it believes the movie is better suited to an autumn release, insiders believe that they are hoping for an invite to the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The film, which is a sequel to the 1987 original, sees Michael Douglas returning as notorious Wall Street trader Gordon Gekko, who has just been released from jail and tries to warn of the pending economic collapse. Gekko tries to rebuild his relationship with his daughter (Carey Mulligan), by helping her stock broker fiance (Shia LaBeouf) get his revenge of the hedge fund manager responsible for his mother’s murder.
